Sarigua National Park

Desierto de Sarigua in the province of Herrera, Panama. The Sarigua Desert defies expectations of a traditional desert. This semi desert landscape is made-up of rock formations and arid soils rather than vast sand dunes.

The desert, shaped by centuries of wind and sun, reveals a unique ecosystem, with Zurich vegetation such as cacti and thorny bushes, and fauna adapted to extreme heat. The first cultures that inhabited this region developed ingenious techniques to survive in these harsh conditions, leaving archaeological remains that can still be explored.

The Sarigua Desert offers contrasts of beauty throughout the day, from impressive sunsets to the shadows of its rock formations. Today, it is a fascinating destination to explore trails and discover the resilience of life in an arid environment, remembering the strength of nature in extreme conditions.
